Ebisu

Along the fringes of Shibuya and Meguro sit Ebisu, a neighborhood that gives off a calm atmosphere. Apart from being a quiet location, it's an expensive residential area that centers around Ebisu Garden Place, an office, shopping, and dining complex rolled into one.

The area's name was coined from Yebisu beer, a popular brand in Japan that used to be brewed in Ebisu. Yebisu beer itself is named after Ebisu, one of the seven Japanese gods of fortune. Beer enthusiasts can keep themselves busy at the Museum of Yebisu Beer, which still remains in the old brewery building.

In Ebisu, you will never go hungry — the area is famous for its numerous small restaurants, izakaya, pubs and standing bars that dot the streets. For those looking for some peace, Ebisu is the place to be. Its significantly toned down in terms of crowds compared to neighbors Shibuya and Roppongi. As such, an older crowd is usually seen around. 

Ebisu is also attracts a fair number of foreigners, who seem to love the laid back vibe the place gives off. The farther you explore Ebisu, the more hidden roads that lead to shops you would never notice there are, making it a great place to get lost and discover new things.
