A groundbreaking new exhibition in Tokyo will showcase the fusion of traditional Japanese art and cutting-edge technology, offering visitors an immersive experience into the world of Katsushika Hokusai.

Hokusai: Another Story in Tokyo brings the iconic works of this Edo-period ukiyo-e master to life using ultra-high-definition visuals, haptic technology, and interactive elements that transport attendees back in time with a modern spin. This innovative experience seeks to not only honor Hokusai’s legacy but also to reimagine how we interact with cultural history, making it accessible to a global audience in an entirely new way.

At the heart of this exhibition is an immersive sensory experience that blends Hokusai’s masterpieces, like The Great Wave off Kanagawa, with modern technology. Through high-definition reproductions displayed on Sony's Crystal LED screens, the exhibition recreates the vivid details of Hokusai’s work, providing an almost tangible connection to the art. Guests also get to experience tactile feedback thanks to haptic technology, which simulates the sensation of walking on different surfaces, such as sand or water, adding a physical layer to the visual journey. You can get an idea of what to expect from the event via the video below.
