Hokusai Samurai Exhibition 2023-2024

A special event at the Sumida Hokusai Museum

Hokusai, the iconic ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period, was deeply influenced by the samurai ethos that permeated his era. Born in 1760, he lived through Japan's tail end of feudalism, and a number of his works depicted samurai. A special exhibition taking place at the Sumida Hokusai Museum is set to explore these samurai-related works, and the event runs until late February 2024.

Alongside the artworks there will also be a variety of samurai war tools exhibited, such as swords and spears.

Adult admission to the exhibition is priced at 1200 JPY.

Getting there

The Sumida Hokusai Museum is located 5 minutes on foot from Ryogoku Station's A3 exit (via the Toei Oedo Line), or 9 minutes on foot from Ryogoku Station's East exit (via the JR Sobu Line).

For those who opt to drive, please note that the museum has no dedicated parking lot. Paid parking lots are available in the surrounding area.
