Ikebukuro Mensore Festival

A celebration of Okinawan culture in Tokyo

Venue: Sunshine 60 St, 1-chōme-13 Higashiikebukuro, Toshima City, Tokyo 170-0013, Japan When: Late May 2024

Okinawan culture is a vibrant tapestry of traditions and customs, which draws influence from various Asian and Southeast Asian cultures. With unique arts, music, and dance forms plus distinctive regional cuisine, the prefecture's culture quickly captivates visitors to the prefecture.

If you can't make it to Okinawa, though, the Ikebukuro area of Tokyo is hosting the Sunshine City Okinawa Mensore Festival this May – and the event showcases the charm of Okinawa in various ways.

Festival attendees can sip on a cold Orion beer and sample Okinawan foods at the Mensore Beer Terrace, or be entertained by live performances such traditional Eisa dance displays.
