There are a number of great places across Japan to see wisteria in bloom during the spring months, and many would agree that Tokyo's best spot is Kameido Tenjin Shrine. The shrine's trellises are adorned with delicate clusters of purple, pink, and white flowers during the month of April, creating a beautifully ethereal atmosphere.
The shrine grounds present some beautiful scenery for visitors to enjoy alongside the wisteria, including the iconic view of the shrine's red bridge with the blooms, and Tokyo Skytree off in the distance. In typical years, the flowers are also illuminated in the evenings, providing the opportunity to appreciate them after dark.
You can see more of what to expect at the event via this YouTube video shared on the shrine's website.
Admission to the festival is free of charge.
