Travel to the top of Mitake-san on a scenic cable car to visit a shrine that has been a place of worship for over 2000 years. Beside the shrine is a trail heading down into the 'Rock Garden', a narrow, forested valley containing a picturesque stream, moss covered stones, and lovely waterfalls. The area is especially beautiful in the autumn, when red, orange, and yellow overtake the normally deep green forest.

Nice fall colors!
It is my favorite time of year too! Plan to visit the area in mid-late November when autumn leaves are at their peak.

I miss the autumn color season in Japan very much, thanks for this wonderful submission. I guess it is my favorite time of the year in Japan!
