Pure Café is a delightful vegan café in Aoyama,Tokyo, just five minutes walk from Omotesando train station and connected to Aveda spa and shop complex. The café opened in 2003, focusing on healthy organic food and a comforting, relaxing atmosphere. It is open seven days a week from 8:30am - 10:30pm and they have set menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I went for lunch, which starts at 11:30am and finishes at 3pm. The café is quite spacious and has a cosy, welcoming atmosphere.

I decided to opt for the Vegan burger, which came with salad made from tempeh, salsa sauce, cabbage, tomato, cucumber and lettuce; I would definitely recommend trying this dish out, My meal also came with noodles, soup and a piece of bread, the food was very fresh and tasty, blending ingredients from different parts of the world. The portions were fairly small but I was full by the end. I also ordered Mikan, a Japanese mandarin juice and cold medicinal tea and the total came to 1,944 yen, which converts to approximately 10 GBP or 17 USD, not bad for some tasty vegan food! Other items on the menu include various cakes, bars & drinks. Who says a tofu tiramisu can't be healthy and tasty? Personally I would say that the drinks are generally over priced but the food is very good quality so it’s worth it. I would say the average price spent would be between 1000 – 2000 yen per person so it’s not the cheapest option but definitely a very healthy and tasty one. Take away is also available so if you are in a rush you can grab one of the healthy snacks to go.

A cookbook is also available but I believe this is only in Japanese. If I were to go again I would definitely try some of the tasty looking deserts such as a yoga cake. The customer service here was great and the waitress spoke English well. Sometimes it is hard to get vegan food within Japan so it was a nice surprise for me, I would definitely recommend this nice little café to anyone visiting Tokyo and wanting a healthy, home made diet
