SpongeBob Cafe “CAFE Secret Recipe” is Opening for a Limited Time in Shibuya

Dive into the undersea town of this renowned cartoon

Many people across the world grew up watching SpongeBob SquarePants. Well, now you can dive into the world firsthand!

To celebrate this cartoon’s 25th anniversary (how time has flown), Miyashita Park in Shibuya, Tokyo will be opening a pop-up cafe from June 13 to November 4, 2024 called CAFE Secret Recipe.

The cafe's “secret recipe” menu promises to create a happy dining experience filled with spices that elicit smiles and laughter. The menu will include 18 different kinds of food and desserts inspired by the characters. Some dishes include:

  • SpongeBob-faced sandwich with pineapple and grilled chicken (also available for take-out)
  • Patrick-themed burger with a soybean patty
  • SpongeBob pineapple cheesecake
  • Gary strawberry roll cake

The CAFE Secret Recipe store will sell more than 30 original goods with designs that reflect the cafe’s aesthetic and theme.

The cafe offers seats on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of, but we HIGHLY recommend booking a reservation in advance to ensure that you have a seat. Your cafe time will be limited to one hour and 20 minutes.

You can make a reservation from this booking site. If you are not a member, please select the button under, “Click here to make a reservation without registering as a member.”

This link will take you to a Japanese website where you can select the number of people and date for the reservation (available dates show as “〇”). Then, you will need to provide your name, phone number, and email address. I highly recommend using your web browser’s translation function to make this process easier. You should receive a confirmation email after booking!
