The Royal Park Canvas - Ginza 8

Place to connect and make things happen

The Royal Park Canvas - Ginza 8 hotel opened in the storied shopping district of Ginza on March 20th 2019. Combining modern comfort and personal touches with the access of a pulsing retail district just steps away makes the Royal Park Canvas Ginza an excellent choice for any guest.

Rooms feature comfortable beds in a variety of set-ups, including accommodations designed for universal accessibility. Relax in the second-floor lounge, where you can peruse the hotel’s collection of vinyl records, or sip a cup of organic tea or a tea cocktail in the hotel’s tea salon. Settle in for a longer meal in Opus, the rooftop restaurant, where the captivating night views are matched by the quality of the French-inspired food.

True to its name – Canvas – the hotel also features the artwork of both Japanese and international artists, with the hope of inspiring visitors to both enjoy and think deeply about the displayed works and their meanings.

Design concept

A vintage modern interior uses a combination of modern art, vintage 50-60s-era furniture, dark tones and soft lighting to create a timeless atmosphere. In the lobby area, muse at the contemporary jigsaw/puzzle artwork—by Tokyo artist collective, Chim↑Pom—that graces the reception area, or the 10-meter long 'Saryu' tea salon/bar that concocts tea-enfused cocktails and mocktails. Organic teas from Fujieda, Shizuoka prefecture, are selected by local Tokyo specialists in Kuramae, Nakamura Tea Life, who have helped design the menu.

Extending this theme, the rooms themselves provide a modern, elegant space to relax – replete with soft lighting and vintage finishes. Several concept rooms bring the idea of 'time gradation' alive, from a 1932-era inspired Ginza Modern room with retro fittings and artwork by Berlin-based British artist, Jonathan Monk. The alternative Creator's Room can also surely provide a memorable experience, designed to inspire those passionate about the arts, relying on a neutral and gray palette that should inspire the creators who stay here.

The 14th floor Opus restaurant arrives with the blessing of two-time Michelin star awarded Chef Yusuke Namai, who has helped produce the menu in tandem with Transit General Office. Opus provides a modern yet sophisticated space, replete with open kitchen and gray minimalist interior, to enjoy a seafood grill-inspired line-up of scintillating dishes blending Japanese and contemporary French influences.
