Two of Asia's Coolest Neighborhoods Named in Tokyo

Lifestyle magazine Tatler recently released their list of Asia’s 10 coolest neighborhoods, and two standout locations in Tokyo made the cut: Ginza and Tomigaya. While each offers their own distinct atmosphere, both contribute to the city's unique blend of history, culture, and modern design.

Ginza is well known as Tokyo’s luxury shopping district, lined with numerous flagship designer boutiques, sleek skyscrapers, and highly acclaimed restaurants, including several Michelin-starred establishments. However, beyond its reputation for high-end retail, Ginza is also a cultural destination, home to renowned art galleries, elegant cocktail bars, and historic alleyways that contrast with its ultra-modern architecture. This mix of past and present makes it a fascinating area for visitors seeking both refined experiences and glimpses of Tokyo’s heritage.

Meanwhile, Tomigaya presents a very different side of the city. Located just outside the bustling Shibuya area, it offers a quieter, more creative atmosphere. The neighborhood is known for its independent coffee shops, concept stores, and minimalist design boutiques that cater to a stylish yet low-key crowd. It's a big part of why this part of the city is a favorite for designers, entrepreneurs, and those looking for a relaxed but fashionable experience in Tokyo.

The two featured neighborhoods provide a perfect example of how Tokyo offers diverse experiences within the same vibrant urban area—be sure to explore them during your travels!

Getting there

Ginza Station is served by the Tokyo Metro Ginza, Marunouchi, and Hibiya subway lines.

The Tomigaya area can be accessed in about 5 minutes on foot from Yoyogi-Koen Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda line.
