Virtual Tokyo Tower 2020

A forward-thinking event that looks 100 years into the future

When: Nov 1st - Nov 30th 2020

If you've ever wondered what it would be like to time travel, you've got the opportunity to give it a whirl during November - and best of all, you don't even need to leave your house. Virtual Tokyo Tower is an online event taking place this month, and it's designed to give you a glimpse into what the tower and its surrounds would be like 100 years from now.

To take part in the event, you'll need to have the Cluster app installed on your device, and register an account. From there, you can pick an avatar to represent yourself in this fun virtual world, and then start exploring! Looking around the tower itself is free (as is the download of the Cluster app), but if you want to head up to the virtual observation deck, there's a cost of 800 yen - it's actually cheaper than the real-life Tokyo Tower, so that's a win!

For those who want a memento from their futuristic experience, there are virtual shops on the ground floor of the Tokyo Tower. Head inside and you'll be directed to a real website where you can purchase official merchandise like t-shirts and tote bags.

The virtual stores will direct you to a real merch website!

What a really great idea. I doubt I will be around in a hundred years to see what the actual Tokyo Tower looks like!! ;-)

Definitely unique, I think virtual tours are really going to get quite popular!

Sounds very interesting! I wonder if that 'peep' into the future is based on real projects for the future of that district or is it just a virtual fiction?

Can't say which is my favorite - the view from Sky Tree was very impressive! But Tokyo Tower was cozy and nice. I liked both! :)
