October 14th has been designated as "Railway Day" in Japan since 1994, and various events are often organized on this day by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and independent railway operators. The Tokuyama Railway Festival is once such event, and it showcases the charm of train travel in various ways.
Festival attendees can check out the Twilight Express (a locomotive train which discontinued service in 2015), pick up some fun regional ekiben (bento box style lunch meals popular for train travel), or take part in hands-on train themed craft activities. If you're visiting with children, they also have the opportunity to dress up as a train conductor for some fun commemorative photos.
There is no admission fee to enjoy the event, so be sure to stop by if you're in the area.

Tokuyama Station is served by the San'yō Shinkansen, the San'yō Main Line, and the Gantoku Line.
