The Shimizu Park Sakura Festival is a real celebration of spring, with around 2000 cherry trees covering 50 varieties to enjoy – including the ever popular somei yoshino type. The park is so well-regarded for sakura that it made the list of Japan's Top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots back in 1990.
Along with the plentiful blooms to appreciate, the event will also include food trucks for those wanting to grab a bite to eat, plus evening illuminations showcasing the blossoms after dark.
Admission to the festival is free of charge, so be sure to check it out if you're in the area.
