Venue: Lake Haruna When: Mid - Late Dec 2021

Mount Haruna is one of Gunma's most famous mountains. On top of the mountain lies Lake Haruna. The lake is picturesque and draws tourists all year round. However, during the month of December, the annual illumination event at Lake Haruna attracts thousands. Visitors come not just for the lights, but a whole festival that comes with this popular event. Highlights of this illumination include a laser light show and periodic fireworks.

The 2020 Lake Haruna illumination is currently scheduled to start on Saturday December 19th and end on Sunday December 27th. The illumination is on between 5 and 9 pm.

Firework dates for 2020

Currently the fireworks are scheduled, weather permitting, for four dates in December. Saturday December 19th, Sunday the 20th, Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th. They are launched from 8 pm.

Lynda has been in Japan for 20 years and blogging about Saitama on her personal blog insaitama.com for 14 of them.  Despite its central location, just North of Tokyo, Saitama is still quite unknown to the international tourist, but frequented by domestic travelers. It is a great place to experience some off-the-international-tourist-trail locations and meet with locals and national tourists. I hope to introduce a taste of what there is to do and see in my articles on Japan Travel and help you with your Saitama travel planning.  Be sure to stop by my website where you will find 600 things to do in Saitama and 400 active events!
