This great little European style cafe with an open-air terrace on the roof started in 2010 by the good people at Molly Malone's pub. This is a unique place as it offers a comfortable dining experience outdoors which is so hard to find in Hiroshima, and the food is also very good.

Delicious favorites like quiche, fish and chips, pizza, sandwiches and gourmet burgers as well as shawarmas, kebabs, falafel as well as big healthy salads. I can't fail to mention my personal favorite- the sweets selection of cupcakes, pies and more. There are also many imported drinks on offer. There really is something for everyone at the Med Cafe.

Although popular with the after work crowd and part of the regular after-drinking circuit (open until mid-night), the Med Cafe isn't just for night-owls. It is open from noon, so it is also a great lunch option and has take-out options. There are also no closing times between lunch and dinner, so you don't have to worry about missing afternoon "last orders".

The menu is quite varied and everything looks beautiful and gets rave reviews. The Med Cafe's food range is: British, Brunch, Burgers, Deli, Greek and Mediterranean, Irish, Middle Eastern, Moroccan, Pizza, Sandwiches, Turkish and Vegetarian.

They have recently added a larger selection of sweets for those of us with a sweet tooth including home-made ice-creams in a variety of constantly updated seasonal flavors. I'm especially fond of the lemon cake and the prettily decorated muffins, but donuts, yogurts, ice-creams, cakes and puddings are very popular.

The draft beer is always served cold and the selections of chilled wine by the bottle is now a great option. There is also an a la carte menu on all the tables and there is now wait service at the tables so you no longer have to worry about taking trips up and down the stairs yourself.

The upper floor's interior seating is non-smoking and the open roof is popular in the warmer months, especially after-work on warm summer nights with a chilled bottle of wine on hand. This is a popular spot for meet-ups before the annual festivals that happen around Shintenchi square: Ebisu-ko, Tokasan and Flower festival.
