Kairakuen: Plum Blossoms and More

Explore plum blossoms, bamboo forests, and history

By Hana Joy    - 1 min read

Kairakuen is one of the most famous gardens in Japan. It is most well-known for its plum blossoms, which bloom in March. The ume (plum) soft serve ice cream alone is enough to make me want to brave the crowds there again. It is perfectly tangy, full of plum flavor, and has little bits of plum mixed in. The park itself is big enough to find a few unpopulated nooks to reflect on the true beauty of the scenery. A great day trip from Tokyo. For more information, check out this great article or this photo story, both done by other contributors.
