HANA・BIYORI, nestled next to the Yomiuriland amusement park in Inagi City, Tokyo, is an innovative flower park that offers a refreshing blend of nature and modern attractions. This park features a variety of seasonal gardens and floral displays, from vibrant cherry blossoms in spring to the rich colors of chrysanthemums in the fall.
One of Hana Biyori’s standout features is its focus on sustainable practices, including natural irrigation systems and a variety of locally sourced products. The park’s dining area showcases handcrafted furniture made by wood salvaged from trees damaged by typhoons at Yomiuriland facilities. It also exclusively uses well water from the Tama Hills to nourish its plants, streams, and waterfalls.
In addition to the breathtaking plant life, HANA・BIYORI offers workshops, seasonal events, and interactive art installations. Whether you’re looking to connect with nature, learn about sustainable gardening, or simply enjoy the beauty of seasonal flowers, HANA・BIYORI offers an experience that is both educational and visually captivating.
At the heart of the park, HANA・BIYORI Hall blends nature, history, and innovation. It features one of Japan’s largest floral chandeliers with over 300 hanging flower pots, alongside the 400-year-old "Parabolaccio" tree. Immersive projection mapping shows transform the space into a digital-art spectacle, while the Starbucks botanical café offers a serene retreat.
Piet Oudolf Garden Tokyo is the first garden in Japan designed by Piet Oudolf, a globally renowned landscape designer known for New York’s High Line and Chicago’s Lurie Garden. Using naturalistic planting techniques, it features perennials arranged to mimic wild meadows. Beyond vibrant blooms, the garden highlights shadows, textures, and the beauty of natural decay, redefining traditional gardening aesthetics.
Alley of Colors surrounds the HANA・BIYORI building and houses different gardens that transform with the seasons. The Four Seasons Garden features plant-filled flower beds, while the Sequoia Garden is home to the park’s tallest tree. Visitors can also admire Higashinotaki and Nishinotaki waterfalls, flowing through scenic rock formations. In June, fireflies illuminate a stream beneath the Nishibashi (“for a while” in English) bridge, creating a magical atmosphere that blends nature and tranquility.
Visitors can participate in an otter feeding experience on weekends and holidays. The event starts at 13:30, with registration closing at 13:20. Tickets cost ¥500 and must be purchased in advance via YomiRun CLUB.
A magical forest featuring the Hijirimon Gate, believed to have originated from the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The gate leads to Hijiri Pond, where autumn maple trees form a stunning red canopy. The forest also includes the Tahoto Pagoda and Eight Patriarchs statues, surrounded by 2,000 manjushage flowers in September and October. Additionally, it is home to the Shaka Nyorai Hall, which houses Buddha’s relics, as well as sacred areas featuring statues of Myoken Bosatsu and Sho Kannon Bosatsu.
HANA・BIYORI is a 10-minute walk from Keio Yomiuriland Station on the Keio Line. It is also accessible via a free shuttle bus to and from Yomiuriland’s main entrance. For those driving, parking is available at Yomiuriland, with designated spaces near HANA・BIYORI.
