Sony gadgets, various cafes and free Wi-Fi

The Sony Building in Ginza is accessible from exit B9 at Ginza station. The building has seven floors with various displays of electronic gadgets, a cafe on the basement and on the top floor. The staff at the Sony Building are very helpful regarding product demonstrations and they are happy to answer any queries you might have.

The Sony Building also holds special events when new products or new game titles are launched. It was great to attend the Locoroco launch in 2006 at this building, together with my daughter. Check the events section on the Sony Building's English website.

If you visit the Sony Building on a weekday, there aren't many people around and you can visit at your own pace. The weekends can get crowded and some sections like the audio visual theater usually has long lines and you need to wait your turn.

The recently launched Playstation 4 gaming console has whole a floor dedicated to it, where you can try some game titles on high-definition screens.

The smartphone and phablet section has Spiderman to market the stylish pen function of the tablets. You can try and check all the gadgets and check the complete line-up of various gadgets.

Sony has been getting increasing attention in the digital SLR camera space and I am myself an avid fan of the Alpha and NEX series of cameras. You can check all the digital camera range and also the handy-cams which Sony is famous for.

You can test your photography skills with the camera models and the flower set-up; good for trying out the macro photography capabilities of the devices.

For getting a first-hand experience of next generation display technologies, I highly recommend a visit to the theater room on floor 4. I have been there more than once to check out the newest developments and presently the 4K television sets are on display.

Crisp images at high resolution and awesome audio systems. The theater makes sure that a motivated buyer wants to get his hands on these gadgets on the way out.

Table-top style tablet devices and other non-standard forms which may come to the market sometime in the future can also be tested. Honestly speaking, it is much more fun to check out the gadgets here rather than in the hustle-bustle of Akihabara. You also get a great atmosphere and better attention from the staff, and most of them speak very good English.

The communication zone OPUS on the eighth floor offers free Wi-Fi and browsing terminals. Looking over the Sukiyabashi traffic square you can enjoy all the browsing you need to do here.

My favorite gaming device Playstation Vita is also on display at the Sony Building.

The Sony Building in Ginza is being used by the Sony Corporation to showcase their latest electronic offerings. It used to be just the Walkman brand when I first visited in 1998, then the Bravia television series and lately the Xperia smartphone line.

You can enjoy Sony's digital lifestyle in this seven-story exhibition space and there is also a French Restaurant on the first floor.

I have been a big fan of the brand and my living room was almost entirely Sony-branded. I still have a lot of faith in the brand, despite the strong competition that it continues to receive from the innovative Apple products.
