Finland Weekend in Saitama 2021

Bringing a slice of Finland to Japan this October

Venue: Oizumi Factory, Saitama When: Oct 30th - Oct 31st 2021

Since international travel has been prohibited or extremely challenging over the past 18 months, many innovative events have popped up that bring the feeling of being in a different country right here to Japan. One such event is taking place this October - the Finland Weekend in Saitama.

The event will include themed Moomin photo spots (the characters were created by Finnish author Tove Jansson), opportunities to enjoy Finnish food and drinks, a market selling various good from Finland, saunas and Finnish baths, and plenty more.

For those who want to learn more about Finnish lifestyle and culture, there will even be seminars hosted by Finnish embassy staff.

Admission to the event is ¥ 1000 each day, and tickets can be reserved online via the official booking site here.

Getting there

Oizumi Factory is located under 10 minutes by taxi from Akabane-Iwabuchi Station, which is served by the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line and the Saitama Rapid Railway Line.

I've only been to Helsinki Airport! For about 11 hours enjoyed the company of Moomins and tried some Finnish food. :) Before 1917 Finland was in Russian Imperia, so the center of Helsinki reminds St. Petersburg.

I'd love to visit Finland in person some day!
