Is there a more typical Japanese snapshot than a red five-storied pagoda and vibrant red autumn leaves? If you think there isn't, you should go to Takahatafudoson Kongo-ji, a temple in Hino, Tokyo. Unfortunately I was there about two weeks too early to see the full glory of the momiji (Japanese maples) in autumn colors, but some trees already had some red leaves. In the second half of November there is also a momiji matsuri (maple festival). Dates differ, but it takes place for almost two weeks each autumn.
