Sakura Jidai Festival 2025

A fun step back in time in Chiba Prefecture

Venue: Shinmachi Street, Sakura, Chiba When: Mid Mar 2025

If you're looking for a fun event packed with historical charm, check out the Sakura Jidai Festival. The event has been running in this castle town for over two decades now, and includes a variety of ways to take a step back in time. Numerous cultural performances, opportunities to try on traditional samurai armor, Edo-period style stalls selling food and drink, and shuriken (sometimes known as "ninja stars") throwing games are just some of the highlights.

The festival is scheduled to take place right around cherry blossom season, so you can enjoy the best of the blooms during your visit.

Getting there

The event takes place around Shinmachi Street (the street in front of the Sakura City Museum of Art), which can be accessed in 10 minutes on foot from the south exit of Keisei Sakura Station, or around 20 minutes walk from the north exit of JR Sakura Station.
