Tulips are one of spring's classic flowers, and there are a myriad of places to enjoy them across Japan. If you're wondering where to start, this guide covers five of the best ones.
Akebonoyama Agricultural Park, Chiba
Looking like a scene straight out of the Netherlands - complete with a windmill and all - the Akebonoyama Agricultural Park is filled with around 160,000 tulips during April, covering a 1.2 hectare space. The park is revered for its beauty year-round, though, with a host of other delights to enjoy outside the spring season - there are sunflowers during summer and cosmos during autumn, for instance.

Tonami Tulip Park, Toyama
Toyama's Tonami Tulip Park is one of Japan's most loved tulip destinations, and it's home to an annual festival that showcases around two million of the flowers in bloom. This year is the 70th anniversary of the event's commencement, and you can explore some highlights from previous years on the official website.

Showa Kinen Park, Tokyo
Tulip fans don't even need to depart Tokyo Prefecture to revel in the beauty of these springtime blooms. Showa Kinen Park in Tachikawa is home to an impressive array of them in various species and colors, along with azaleas, poppies, and wisteria during this time of year. The park is also incredibly popular in autumn when the gingko trees are a vibrant yellow.

Sakura City, Chiba
Chiba's Sakura City is another spot that delivers that Netherlands-style feel to its tulip displays, and they hold an annual Sakura Tulip Festa during the month of April. During the event, visitors can rent bicycles to pedal their way around the area, or dig up bulbs to plant at home.

Kiso Sansen Park, Gifu
Gifu's Kiso Sansen Park shows off an abundance of tulips in numerous colors and varieties during spring, and since there are early, mid, and late blooming tulips at the park, visitors have a wider timeframe in which to catch their beauty.
Another lovely thing about the park here is that there are cherry blossom trees planted in close proximity to the tulips. If the tulips happen to bloom early enough, you can enjoy the splendor of them both at the same time!
