Ill-starred Painters 2020-2021

A special exhibition at the Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan

Venue: Saga Arashiyama Museum of Arts and Culture When: Oct 24th - Jan 11th 2021

A special exhibition taking place at the Saga Arashiyama Museum of Arts and Culture looks at works from painters who have suffered from various forms of bad luck, including illness and the loss of family members. Whilst the painters showcased at the event traversed hardships in life, their works often showed a light and beauty that transcended this.

The event will be held in conjunction with the Fukuda Art Museum, and some of the pieces on display include Goseda Horyu's "Clam digging", Kishi Ganku's "Fukurokuju", and Shinichi Yamauchi's "Spring Light".

Adult admission to the event is priced at 900 yen.

Getting there

The Saga Arashiyama Museum of Arts and Culture is located approximately 15 minutes on foot from Saga Arashiyama Station, served by the JR Sagano Line, or around 13 minutes on foot from Arashiyama Station, served by the Hankyu Arashiyama Line.
