Riusei Kishida Exhibition

An event at the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto

Venue: Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto (MoMAK) When: Jan 29th - Mar 6th 2022

In March last year, the National Museum of Modern Art Kyoto (MoMAK) obtained 42 artworks created by Taishō and Shōwa period painter Riusei Kishida (1891 - 1929). He was best known for his realistic portrait style of painting, along with some nihonga-style works in the latter part of his career.

A special exhibition at the museum looks at their full collection of Kishida's works, which numbers around 50 pieces when including the 2021 acquisitions.

Adult admission to the event is priced at ¥ 1500.

Getting there

The Museum of Modern Art Kyoto (MoMAK) can be conveniently accessed via bus from Kyoto Station. Take the Kyoto City Bus No. 5 (toward Ginkakuji Temple Via Heian-jingu Shrine), and alight at the “Okazaki Koen/Bijutsukan, Heian Jingu-mae” stop.

For those who plan to drive, do note that there is no dedicated parking lot at the museum. Patrons are advised to park at the nearby underground Okazaki-koen Parking Lot. A parking discount of 200 yen can be provided from the museum on presentation of your ticket.
