Bankoku Shinryokan celebrated its auspicious opening by hosting the world's top leaders at the 2000 Kyushu-Okinawa G-8 Summit. The facility is located on Busena Point and is comprised of two large conference halls, a business room, a sunset lounge, a VIP room and a cafe terrace, all with magnificent views overlooking the East China Sea. Each room is created with traditional Okinawan craft works including paper crafted from the leaves of a getto tree to make beautiful chandeliers, and shelving created from indigenous Okinawa trees to display the G-8 Summit leaders' signatures. The Cafe Terrace serves a variety of food including Okinawan soba, taco rice, waffles, ice-cream, tea & coffee, and juices and beer daily from 10:00 ~ 17:00. Bankoku Shinryokan is open everyday except when events are being held, and can be accessed from Route 58 or a 15 minute drive south of the Okinawa Expressway Kyoda IC.
