Tempyō Praise Exhibition

A special event at the Osaka Museum of Fine Arts

Venue: Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts When: Oct 27th - Dec 13th 2020

A special exhibition at the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts looks into the world of Tempyō era arts (also often written as Tenpyō). This timeframe in the early 700s was seen as a golden age of Japanese sculpture, and the event will showcase a variety of artworks - not just sculptures - which are from this period, or inspired by it.

A number of the pieces at the event have been designated as Important Cultural Properties, including the painting "Reminiscence of the Tempyō Era" by Fujishima Takeji.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 1500 yen.

Getting there

The Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts is located around five minutes on foot from Tennoji Station's Exit 5 (JR West Osaka Loop Line, Hanwa Line, Yamatoji Line, Osaka Metro Midōsuji Line, and Tanimachi Line).

For those who plan to drive, take the Tennoji exit from the Hanshin Expressway. There is no dedicated parking lot for the museum, so patrons are advised to park at the Tennoji Park underground parking lot. Details about fees can be found on the parking lot website here.
