The flame-style pottery from the Jomon period that has been found in the Shinano River Basin in Niigata Prefecture is a national treasure and worthy of an exhibition in the capital. This style is more elaborate than pots of the same period found elsewhere in the country, and why they were made with such detailed decoration is unknown. They are beautiful works of art and amazing creations given that they are 5,000 years old. This exhibition attempts to explain Jomon era pottery, and will have explanations written in English. Admission is free, and it promises to offer a chance to see these pots up close, as well as offer an insight into the period.
