Nestled in the bustling heart of central Tokyo, exists a small enclave of British culture. So profound is this representation that you could be excused for thinking that you had just walked into a farmhouse amongst the rolling hills of northern England. Welcome to a café entirely dedicated to the British animation sensation Shaun the Sheep.

Walking up the stairs you are bombarded by the sound of the series' opening theme music, which to the joy of some and the annoyance of others seems to be on repeat. Situated in a small building the café cum restaurant has three small floors and is extremely popular among fans. So much so that on weekends there is a full reservation system in place. Yes, you read that correctly. To enter a three-story café based on a British animation series, you must book online.

The principal floor has a small kitchen and a variety of treats that can be purchased from the counter along with a few tables. The second floor provides more seating whilst their exists a rooftop terrace with views over the adjacent street.

The menu itself is in Japanese, however the food served is almost entirely borrowed from the nominal western cuisine. Although there does exists pictures of all food items for those not proficient in Japanese.

Almost all of the products served come with some sort of Shaun the Sheep embellishment, whether it be a pizza topped with a smiling face of the popular sheep or a cappuccino sprinkled with chocolate powder in the way of Shaun the Sheep.

Main and entrée courses are reasonably priced for a themed restaurant, expect to pay around the ¥1,000 mark. Desserts seem to be the cafes forte with a variety of weird and wacky sweets on offer and priced between ¥450 - ¥2000.

The drink menu is rather limited, restricted primarily to coffees, teas and a range of juices. Until Halloween, there exists a special menu that seems to combine the triviality of Shaun with the Halloween theme.

For those wishing to commemorate their visit to one of Tokyo's weirdest sites, a selection of Shaun the Sheep keepsakes are available to purchase from the café. Souvenirs range from t-shirts to the Shaun the Sheep eating plates.
