If you want a good view of Tokyo from a high vantage point then, instead of going up the expensive, busy tourist traps of the Skytree or Tokyo Tower, you might go to the Mori Tower in Roppongi Hills. Your ticket to the Mori Art Museum includes admission to the 52nd-floor Tokyo City View Observatory, which gives you a fine view out over the city in every direction. There's a little cafe there, and a shop where you can pick up a souvenir of your visit, while for an extra few hundred yen you can go up two floors to the rooftop SkyDeck and enjoy the open-air panorama.

Tokyo City View, Roppongi
Take in a view of the whole big city

Unafraid visitors standing right up at the windows

If you go up Tokyo Tower, you can't see it, but from here you can!

There's a great view out in every direction

If you suffer from vertigo you might want to stand back from the windows

The big windows give an unimpeded panoramic view

There's a little cafe where you can get a coffee or cake to enjoy by the windows

You can't really tell from the picture, but on a clear day you can see all the way to Yokohama

Tokyo just goes on and on and on

The sun goes down and the lights come on

The night view is a striking show of lights

Such a pretty view of Tokyo! I love the pictures taken. I would love to visit and see it for myself. Thanks for posting.

Great photos! I visited Tokyo City View 2 months ago thanks to a suggestion from Geoff from JapanTravel. The views were fantastic. I'll have to go back to see the night lights of Tokyo.
