Yakitori Japan Festival

A two-day event celebrating this much-loved foodie favorite

Venue: Yamaguchi Prefectural Fisheries Cooperative Minato Fish Market When: Late Aug 2024

A big part of yakitori's irresistible appeal in Japan lies in its simplicity. Skewered and grilled over charcoal, the tender pieces of chicken, seasoned with salt or tare sauce, create a harmonious balance of smokiness and succulence.

The Yakitori Japan Festival in Yamaguchi's Nagato City celebrates this much-loved foodie favorite, and the two-day event will include 17 different yakitori shops from Hokkaido all the way to Okinawa and many places in between.

If you do plan on visiting, please note that the hours differ slightly on each day of the event – the Saturday hours are from 10am until 5pm, and the Sunday hours are from 10am until 4pm.

Getting there

The festival takes place at the Yamaguchi Prefectural Fisheries Cooperative Minato Fish Market, which can be accessed in around 45 minutes from the Mine IC on the Chugoku Expressway.

For those visiting the area via public transport, the venue is located under 10 minutes on foot from Nagatoshi Station on the JR Sanin Main Line.
