A Unique Black Thunder Stay in Aichi

A collaboration with Hotel Associa Toyohashi

Something you'll see in the sweets aisle of just about every convenience store and supermarket in Japan is the Black Thunder, a chocolate bar produced by the Yuraku Confectionery Company. Created in 1994, the bar features a cocoa-flavored cookie pieces mixed with white biscuit pieces, which is then all coated in chocolate. The budget-friendly price of the bar (it has a retail price of ¥ 30 plus tax) has ensured its popularity over the past 25+ years, and it has been released in a number of seasonal flavors such as choc-mint, strawberry, and even corn potage for the more adventurous types.

For Black Thunder fans, there is a unique hotel room collaboration taking place for a limited time at the Hotel Associa Toyohashi in Aichi Prefecture. This is the first ever themed room focused on the chocolate bar, and a stay here includes a number of unique benefits. For instance, guests receive a welcome Black Thunder, a special room key and sticker to keep, a product voucher for collaboration Black Thunder goods that can only be purchased in Toyohashi, and even the chance to enjoy Black Thunder on toast at the hotel's breakfast sittings.

In addition, the accommodation plan also includes an "all you can stuff" Black Thunder experience at the Yuraku Confectionery Company's Toyohashi factory. At the venue there is also the opportunity to purchase regional Black Thunder flavors, plus Black Thunder goods that can't be found elsewhere.

Agreed, to think it's even inspired this hotel room collaboration gives some idea of its popularity!

That's so cool! Too bad Japan is still closed for (most) tourism :-(

Yes, hopefully some people living in Japan at present can take advantage of it! And fingers crossed maybe we'll have a resolution to the individual travel before the end of August when the collaboration ends. I've heard people speculating that maybe the government will make a decision on individual tourism after the upper house election, so fingers crossed...
