Kaguya Reisebüro is a travel agency that offers customized services to English, German, and Japanese-speaking tourists. Aside from typical travel agency offerings, such as bookings and itinerary planning, the agency also has a concierge service that provides pertinent information about everything related to Japan and travel.

As independent travel has gained popularity in recent years, Kaguya Reisebüro distinguishes itself by offering invaluable information about tourism in Japan—from recommended off-the-beaten-path destinations to Japanese language courses to reports about dangerous weather. Mariko Sugie, the president of Kaguya Reisebüro, is extremely passionate about creating safe and memorable experiences for all her customers.

Mariko started in the travel industry when she was a student and worked for a travel company in Prague and Vienna. She also has a master's degree in Japanese literature and thus serves as an excellent source for details regarding Japanese religion, history, and culture. As a Japanese person with extensive experience in the travel industry, she is always happy to share her travel tips with visitors. Thanks to the company’s small size, she is grateful that she has opportunities to interact with all her customers. Helping people with travel is both her job and hobby!

The Kaguya Reisebüro difference

One of Kaguya Reisebüro’s most notable offerings is its aforementioned concierge service. Mariko established this service after witnessing the troubles tourists can have in Japan when they do not have access to important and reliable information. Her goal is to advise customers on a variety of matters related to safety, comfort, and travel destinations. This service includes, but is not limited to:

  • Information about local tourist attractions and hidden gems that you will not find in generic tourist guidebooks
  • Access to local culture, including local events and festivals
  • Food recommendations and restaurant reservations that match your preferences
  • Accommodation recommendations
  • Japanese etiquette guidelines
  • Emergency support
  • Personalized itineraries that embody your goals in Japan
  • Basic Japanese lessons

In addition to its concierge service, Kaguya Reisebüro also offers full confidence for people in the LGBTQ+ community. Since many LGBTQ+ people have hesitations when traveling abroad, Mariko wants to assure them that Japan is safe. Backed by her knowledge of Japanese literature, the LGBTQ+ community has existed in Japan for centuries, and today people in this community are protected. For instance, the “Ryokan Business Law, Article 5” does not permit accommodations to turn guests away unless they have a contagious disease or are likely to commit an illegal act.

A parting message from Mariko

Safe travel is one of Mariko’s top priorities. Thus, Kaguya Reisebüro, with its concierge service and inclusivity, aspires to make all its customers feel both comfortable and well-informed so they can make their dream trips realities.
