Enjoying autumn leaves by day is a magical experience, but there's something even more ethereal about being able to appreciate them after dark. Chiba's Mihamaen Garden is opening in the evenings for a limited time to allow visitors that opportunity, in conjunction with a special lantern event.
The Mihamaen Lantern Festival is set to include around 200 lanterns decorated by local children, plus bamboo lights and traditional Japanese umbrella displays. Combined with the illuminated trees, the atmosphere will be incredibly special.
For anyone interested, there is also the opportunity to savor some matcha and traditional sweets at the on-site Shoritei tea room.
If you do plan on attending, please note the difference in operating hours for the event:
- Weekdays from 17:30 until 19:30
- Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 17:30 until 20:30
