When you come to Japan, I'm sure you'll visit famous tourist spots. But if you are tired of visiting those places that everybody knows, or you are tired of fighting the crowds, I'd recommend you to take a casual walk around your hotel without purpose. I myself don't like going to famous spots, as I'm sure they will be all crowded, so instead, I just walk around and find pleasure in discovering hidden jewels that nobody knows. Here is an example of what I found in my casual stroll. This shrine doesn't even have a name, but it appears it has been here for a long time under the good care of the local people in the neighborhood. And you can find this kind of small, but pretty shrine everywhere in Japan, if you look closely!

Nameless small shrine under the setting sun

Tall trees reaching high up to the sky

Leaves changing into autumn colors

When I was walking down the street there was a small shrine in a wooded corner

Peeping at the small shrine

Wild persimmon ready to be harvested

Spider web sparkling under the setting sun

Small wooden shrine is placed on a stone pedestal

Small moss-covered stone shrine in the corner of the grounds

Pretty shrine surrounded by greenery

Green and yellow leaves and the shrine roof

Early autumn leaves at the end of the day
