When you come to Japan, I'm sure you'll visit famous tourist spots. But if you are tired of visiting those places that everybody knows, or you are tired of fighting the crowds, I'd recommend you to take a casual walk around your hotel without purpose. I myself don't like going to famous spots, as I'm sure they will be all crowded, so instead, I just walk around and find pleasure in discovering hidden jewels that nobody knows. Here is an example of what I found in my casual stroll. This shrine doesn't even have a name, but it appears it has been here for a long time under the good care of the local people in the neighborhood. And you can find this kind of small, but pretty shrine everywhere in Japan, if you look closely!
