I recently found out that there is a branch of Izumo Shrine in my neighborhood, and on a cold winter day I visited there to look at the newly hung sacred straw rope which weighs 900 kg. It had been snowing for weeks, and when I got there the entire place was covered in snow. Just beside the prayer hall, there was a small but beautiful Japanese garden. It was covered in snow as well, and looked so quiet. I could have gotten closer to it, but I didn't want to leave footprints on the pure white snow, so I appreciated its beauty from afar.
