Want to take a small break and relax at a resort surrounded by the beautiful sea? Just pack your bags and head out for a small day trip to Shikanoshima, a remarkable land-tied island, located by the Hakata Bay. It's connected to Fukuoka City by a peninsula and tombolo called Uminonakamichi, and people flock to the beaches on the sides of the road. The island is where the historic golden seal (now at the Fukuoka City Museum) was found, and it has a memorial park as well. Just get off at Saitozaki Station (JR Kyushu), use the ferry, and you're there!
