Overview
For Hinohara Village, with its drop-in-the-Tokyo-ocean population of some two thousand residents, there seems to be little need for separate parks and gardens. After all, when over 95% of the area is natural forest, it's easy to see that the village itself is its own natural space. Still, there are a few places that stand out and so here is an introduction to some of these spaces in Hinohara and how to reach them.
Hinohara Tokyo Citizen's Forest
An escape from the world, Hinohara Tokyo Citizens' Forest offers the chance to 'bathe in nature.' The area's walking trails includes the famous 'Therapy Road' where the health tradition of absorbing and taking in the tranquil atmosphere is thought to be strongest. With its waterfalls, native flora & fauna and plenty of fresh air, the forest is a unique Tokyo destination.
A 60-minute no.10 bus ride from Musashi-Itsukaichi Station on the JR Itsukaichi Line.
Kanoto International Trout Fishing Field
Set deep within the forest, Kanoto International Trout Fishing Field is a fantastic fishing pond location that is accessible to both adults and children. BBQ opportunities are available, as too are fishing rod rentals. Grilled on the spot, the fish are delicious, the surrounds are pure and the atmosphere invigorating.
A 35-minute no.18 bus ride from Musashi-Itsukaichi Station on the JR Itsukaichi Line.
Trout Farm Akikawa
Right by the Kitaaki River, Trout Farm Akikawa is one of the village's most popular trout fishing locations. With its limited parking requiring a reservation, this fishing pond has a real sense of intimacy to it. A great place to get away from the overstimulation that can be Tokyo, the trout farm is perfect for both beginners and children.
A 30-minute drive or a 40-minute no.18 bus ride from Musashi-Itsukaichi Station on the JR Itsukaichi Line.
