The organisers of the the Farmer's Market @UNU every Saturday and Sunday in Omotesando, Tokyo, are launching a new event "Tokyo Craft Market". Sixty craftsmen, select shops and sake breweries are gathering in one place, and can make your day alongside authentic Japanese tea & wagashi experiences on offer.

The Arts and Crafts movement, inspired by William Morris, started in the late 19th century and continued into the early 20th century. Various art movements sprung up in Japan along with the Mingei Japanese folk art movement. These movements resisted the mass-production brought about by the industrial revolution and played a large part in the move towards skilled handiwork and a lifestyle filled with a better sense of beauty. Now in the modern world we live in, the 'heart of craft' is important once again – things made by hand, made with thought, and then brought into the Information Age. The industrial revolution has passed and we are now undergoing an information revolution where the world craves the heart of craftsmanship. We are able to utilize more fully our creativity as humans through Art, Craft, and Science. This creativity may be the only path to save us from the current state of crisis seen around the world.
The concept of Craft that has been kept alive in Japan and the craftsmanship of the world combine art and lifestyle at the Tokyo Craft Market, held at the Omotesando Farmer’s Market @UNU.
