Fudoin Temple

Serene views & sounds, interesting history & religion

As I rode my bicycle along a busy road it was hard to imagine there would be an impressive temple nearby, but once I turned down the side-street next to Fudoin-mae station, heard only the sounds of birds.

Fudoin temple grounds are very serene and beautiful. A few visitors and worshippers came and went while I wandered around taking it all in. I love the sounds of the katakatakata when someone pulled the large prayer beads in front of the temple while making an offering. I was entranced by the vivid green momiji leaves in stark contrast to the red Tori gate and Inari Jinja (fox shrine). There were many styles, images and religious symbols to take it- it is a very interesting and magical place.
