Japan Traditional Art & Crafts Exhibition

Learn about world-class craft techniques developed in Japan

Venue: Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of Art When: Feb 15th - Mar 5th 2023

The Japan Traditional Art & Crafts Exhibition was established in 1954 with the goal of nurturing and preserving the country's world-class craft techniques. The Hiroshima event will showcase an impressive 280 works from various artistic categories including ceramics, textiles, lacquer art, metalwork, wood and bamboo work, and traditional dolls.

The works on display will include pieces from Living National Treasures (people who have been certified by the Japanese government as Preservers of Important Intangible Cultural Properties) plus up-and-coming young artists.

Adult admission to the event is priced at ¥ 700.

Getting there

The Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of Art can be easily accessed via public transport from Hiroshima Station. Take the Hiroshima Sightseeing Loop Bus (known as the Hiroshima Meipuru-pu) Orange Route, and alight at the dedicated stop for the Prefectural Museum of Art (Shukkeien-mae).

As coin parking in the area is limited, patrons are advised to use public transport wherever possible.
