Aino and Alvar Aalto Exhibition

Exploring the couple's shared visions in design

Venue: Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art When: Jul 10th - Aug 29th 2021

The saying goes that behind every great man there is a great woman, and that is true for the Finnish designer and architect Alvar Aalto (1898 – 1976). His wife Aino (1894 - 1949) was involved in the same field, and was credited as being a pioneer of Scandinavian design in her own right. A special exhibition taking place at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art looks at the shared ideals and complementary visions the couple had through documents and materials on loan from the Aalto family archive.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 1600 yen.

Getting there

The Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art is located approximately 10 minutes on foot from the south exit of Nada Station, which is served by the JR Kobe Line.

For those who opt to drive, on-site parking is available at a cost of 400 yen for up to 2 hours, and then 200 yen for every 30 minutes thereafter.
