If you’re looking for a relaxing environment in Kobe to enjoy a cup of coffee, a delicious lunch, a dinner or just a drink, then I know a place that you might like: Green House Silva Café. A little café with simple design, colorful furniture and surrounded by green.
When I visited Kobe, I asked my friend to take me somewhere where the locals go. “Does it matter if it’s a western style café? Follow me”, she said. And so I did. To my surprise, after walking only a couple of minutes away from the central station, Sannomiya, she nodded towards a little path surrounded by tall bamboo. It was the entrance of a little café.
Decorated with plants both inside and out, Green House Silva, allows you to see the green of nature from anywhere you choose to sit. It’s a three-storey building with an open terrace on the second and third floor. Don’t worry about the cold winter weather. There are blankets and electric heaters to keep you warm. The location is suitable at any time or occasion even to host a party or event.

If you get the set lunch, then you have two food options to choose from that change daily for ¥840 (usually there is a Japanese dish and a Western dish). For an extra ¥160 you can also get a drink, hot or cold according to your preference. The café also has a wide variety of salads, pasta, sandwiches, rice, pizza, meat and fish dishes to choose from. The prices vary from ¥300 to ¥1200. And now the best part: Desserts! Fresh cakes, tarts with fruits, cream, chocolate, mousse and whatever you might want that day are waiting for you to try them. So forget about your diet the day you visit. Prices once again vary from ¥400-¥800.
Green House Silva Café is located only 2 minutes away from Sannomiya Station, which is served by the Hankyu Railway Kobe Line, the Kobe Kosoku Line, the Hanshin Railway Main Line, the Kobe Municipal Subway Seishin-Yamate Line and the Port Liner.
The café’s other branch, 'GREEN HOUSE Aqua', is located in the Isogami area, south of Sannomiya.
