Moomin Comic Strips Exhibition: Ibaraki

An event at Ibaraki's Museum of Modern Art

Venue: Museum of Modern Art, Ibaraki When: Jan 16th - Mar 14th 2021

The Moomins are characters in a cartoon series developed by Finnish illustrator Tove Jansson, and they've become quite popular in Japan. A special exhibition is moving around Japan and will stop at Ibaraki's Museum of Modern Art from January 16th until March 14th 2021. The event will showcase around 280 drawings and sketches of this much-loved troll family, many of which haven't been seen in Japan before.

After the Ibaraki event, the exhibition will move onto the Okayama City Museum.

Prices for the Ibaraki event have not yet been determined - please check the official website closer to the exhibition's commencement.

Getting there

The Ibaraki Museum of Modern Art is located fifteen minutes on foot or five minutes by bus (North Exit, Bus Stop #8) from Mito Station, served by the JR Joban Line.

There is no dedicated parking lot at the museum - patrons are advised to use the nearby Hirosawa City Hall lot.
