The much-anticipated Mucha Exhibition: Goddesses of Art Nouveau is set to hit Yokohama this spring, after its successful runs in both Osaka and Nagoya. This immersive exhibition blends real artwork with digital projections, offering a multi-sensory experience that brings Alphonse Mucha’s iconic works to life.
Fusing art and technology
Celebrated as a pioneer of the Art Nouveau movement, Alphonse Mucha was renowned for his intricate, flowing designs and elegant depictions of women. This exhibition highlights some of his most famous works, including Gismonda, Monaco and Monte Carlo, JOB, and Reverie, using cutting-edge high-definition projection to create a visual space where his art seems to move and breathe. The immersive setting enhances the ethereal beauty of Mucha’s “goddesses,” making visitors feel as though they have stepped right into his world.
Beyond the digital experience
Unlike exhibitions that rely solely on digital displays, Goddesses of Art Nouveau also features an extensive collection of original Mucha artworks. With the support of the renowned OGATA Collection, the exhibition is divided into four thematic chapters: The Beautiful Goddess, showcasing Mucha’s striking portraits of women, including the legendary Sarah Bernhardt; The Color of Life, featuring posters, calendars, and commercial artwork; The Beauty of Style, emphasizing Mucha’s elegant use of motifs; and Pride and Dignity, displaying works inspired by his homeland.

Tickets are priced at 2000 JPY for adults, 1800 JPY for university students, and 800 JPY for junior high and high school aged students. Elementary students and below receive free admission.
