A special event taking place at the Sogo Museum of Art looks at the works of Toko Shinoda (1913-2021), a Japanese artist who was famous for her works that combined traditional calligraphy with modern abstract expressionism.
The exhibition will showcase around 80 of Shinoda's works from throughout her life. She was once quoted as saying her art "reflects the way I hold dear the transient things of this world", and the pieces on display will illustrate this.
Adult admission to the event is priced at 1200 yen.
The Sogo Museum of Art is part of the Sogo Yokohama department store. It can be accessed in just three minutes on foot from Yokohama Station, which is served by a variety of lines including the Tokaido Main Line, the Yokohama Line, and the Yokosuka Line.
For those who plan to drive to the venue, there is paid parking available at the Sogo Parking Building. The building can accommodate up to 2500 vehicles, and parking is charged at 340 yen for every 30 minute increment.
