Kyoto Experiment 2017

Kyoto International Performing Arts Festival returns

When
October 14th - November 5th 2017 Past event

Kyoto Experiment: Kyoto International Performing Arts Festival has taken place every autumn in Kyoto, Japan, since 2010. The festival will bring together leading examples of theater and dance from around the world, being held at ROHM Theatre Kyoto as well as other venues.

With a theme of "Encounters with the Inner Other", the performances presented this year—including specifically commissioned works by international artists—relate to the idea of going beyond merely how we diverge from others and recognizing that cultural identity is multi-layered and multi-faceted.

This year’s festival also forms part of the Culture City of East Asia 2017 Kyoto program, including performances of Chinese, Korean and Japanese artists’ work and events encouraging East Asian cultural exchange.

Participating venues: ROHM Theatre Kyoto, Kyoto Art Center, Kyoto Art Theater Shunjuza, Kyoto Prefectural Citizens’ Hall ALTI, and other locations.
