This man-made pond at Saga was created in the 9th century as part of an imperial villa. Today it belongs to Daiku Temple, which stands on the shore. On evenings in July and August there are lotuses, and the green hills and trees around the lake are reflected in the still surface of the water. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful, making it a perfect place to walk and mull over the day.
