By Sara Pretelli    - 1 min read

Constructed in 752 on the order of Emperor Shomu, Todaiji Temple is famous for the "Daibutsu of Nara" or "Great Buddha of Nara" statue, the world's largest bronze statue of the Buddha.

The Daibutsuden (Big Buddha Hall) is the world's largest wooden building and contains a number of important sculptures.

Temple visitors will also meet some hungry deer from the Nara Park.
