Kaichu Doro is a bridge dubbed as an inter-island highway because it connects Katsuren Peninsula on Okinawa Island with four nearby Islands. The highway provides tourists with access to Henza, Miyagi, Hamahiga and Ikei islands to sample delicious local seafood and enjoy the pristine beaches. Midway across the bridge there is a rest area that includes a seawall park, ample parking and the Umi no Eki Ayahashi Hall. Local vegetables, fish and souvenirs are for sale on the first floor of this building. There is also a restaurant featuring a great view of Kinbu Bay. The second floor features a cultural museum focusing on the maritime history of Katsuren Peninsula. The Kaichu Doro west entrance can be accessed off Route 37 in Uruma City.
