The Osaka Light Festival is an annual illumination event that bedecks the city after sunset in mesmerizing light displays. The illuminations stretch out across two main areas—Midosuji Street and Nakanoshima.
Starting with Midosuji, this roughly four-kilometer-long, broad avenue runs through the heart of Osaka’s Minami district and features a plethora of international luxury brand outlets, making it a shopper’s paradise. During this event, the trees flanking the street are adorned with a variety of colored bulbs. You’ll pass blue, white, purple, gold, and pink-adorned trees, as well as magical color combinations. Participating facilities in the area also join the fun with projection mapping and more. For specific details about Midosuji’s illumination, check out the official site.
Nakanoshima puts on an equally stunning illumination display along Miotsukushi Promenade. Here, glowing archways meet lit-up trees to create a festive path. The nearby Osaka City Hall also receives an enchanting makeover with 3D projection mapping on its facade.
